Welcome to UMass Memorial Lifeflight, the critical care transport service that facilitates the rapid transfer of critically injured or ill patients. Lifeflight was the original air medical transport program in New England, and has been recognized for the excellence of its safety, quality management and employee education programs. Based at the UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus in Worcester, Massachusetts, our air ambulance program is an important component of the UMass Memorial emergency services network, which provides responsive, high-quality care to patients throughout Central Massachusetts. In addition to victims of traums and accidents, the helicopter transports patients requiring urgent specialty care, such as emergency cardiac catheterization and cardiac surgery available at UMass Memorial and other tertiary care centers in the region. Aviation and billing services are provided by Air Methods Corporation of Englewood, Colorado.

The Highest Level of Critical Care Transport Accreditation

UMass Memorial Lifeflight is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems, or CAMTS. This voluntary accreditation acknowledges the quality of patient care and safety delivered in our transport environment. CAMTS accreditation requires a rigorous site visit and inspection every three years. UMass Memorial Lifeflight was the first air medical program in New England to be accredited by CAMTS.
